Senator Cory Bernardi has drawn plaudits from Sydney broadcaster Alan Jones and many others overnight and this morning for calling out the 'cancer' in the Liberal Party.
Last night on the Paul Murray Live program on the Sky News channel, Senator Bernardi described SA Liberal factional boss Christopher Pyne as the 'cancer' within the national Liberal Party.
Fellow panelist Peta Credlin acknowledged Senator Bernardi was right about Mr Pyne and has been misled by him in her time as chief of staff to former Prime Minister Abbott.
Leading Sydney 2GB radio host Alan Jones said Senator Bernardi's comments 'didn't miss' and that the 'Liberal swamp needs draining'. He subsequently interviewed Senator Bernardi later in his program, which you can listen to at 1hr46m of their podcast.
Senator Bernardi also warned that elements within the Liberal Party were working to 'get same sex marriage off the agenda' - that is, to ensure it passes - even if if it destroys the Liberal Party.
