Bernardi calls for tougher sentences for sex offenders

October 05, 2018

Conservative Party leader Senator Cory Bernardi has called for a crackdown on sex offenders after a 13 year old boy was allegedly raped by a 40 year old man, in the front yard of the boy's Sydney home after the two met online and shared images and personal details.

"If we can't protect our children from these creeps, then we're failing as a society," senator Bernardi said.

The Daily Mail reports, the alleged attack last Friday in suburban north-west Sydney only stopped when his mother ran to her son's aid.

The man appeared in court on Monday and was granted bail, something that Senator Bernardi has told Triple M's Luke Bona appalls him.
