Leading candidates for the Melbourne seat of Batman are discussing social issues and ignoring their federal causes according to Australian Conservatives candidate Kevin Bailey.
The Northcote Leader reports Mr Bailey says high national debt and the level of immigration were the keys to social issues such as low unemployment benefits and inadequate social housing.
“This area more than any other is swamped with migrants that clutter up the infrastructure,” he said.
“We need to reduce immigration to increase the wealth for people already here.”
An experienced financial adviser, Mr Bailey said government debt had hamstrung the government into making ineffective policy choices.
