Saturday night’s Australian Conservatives' campaign launch for the by-election in the Federal seat of Batman was a truly inspiring event.
Held in the heart of the Batman electorate on High Street, Preston Australian Conservatives' candidate Kevin Bailey AM spoke to an enthralled capacity crowd.
The former SAS officer emphasised that the Australian Conservatives, “Are not a right wing party but rather we are positioned right in the centre of political debate. We stand for traditional, conservative families."
"We stand for the people that the Labor party used to champion before they deserted them to try to 'out-virtue-signal’ the Greens. We are for Robert Menzies forgotten people, John Howard’s battlers and the people that have traditionally voted Labor only to be ignored. Our way of life as Australians has been under attack by an ideology that pretends to be moral and fair and it is not moral and it is not fair,” he said.
There was a rousing reception to these words and a standing ovation at the end.
Also addressing the crowd were Alister Cameron and Victorian Upper House MP Dr Rachel Carling-Jenkins.
Dr Carling-Jenkins reiterated that the Australian Conservatives are not a minor party but rather a major party in start up mode.
