Today the Australian Electoral Commission published details on its website about the financial dealings of political parties, candidates and others involved in the electoral process. And Australian Conservatives Leader Cory Bernardi is leading the charge to further increase political transparency.
Candidates, registered political parties, their State Branches, local branches/sub-party units and their associated entities, donors and other participants in the electoral process are required to lodge annual financial disclosure returns with the AEC which are then made available for public inspection.
As far back as June 2014, Senator Bernardi in his address to the National Press Club in Canberra, called for financial disclosures to be publicised on the AEC website within a week of them being received.

And as recently as last July - a full six months ahead of the required lodgement time -in the interests of transparency, the Australian Conservatives voluntarily supplied full financial disclosure to the AEC.
