Australian Conservatives welcome a fresh push by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) to improve the productivity of staff.
The ABC reports today that the ATO is urging staff to report colleagues who are taking long lunches or wasting time by eating breakfast or reading the newspapers at work. Freedom of Information documents show ATO management has warned staff falsifying their working hours or slacking off could be considered fraud.
"This is a positive initiative by the ATO," Senator Bernardi said today, "Other government departments should follow suit."
