ANU is a closed shop: Bernardi

June 05, 2018

The Australian National University seems like a closed shop, according to Conservatives leader Cory Bernardi who has blasted a decision by the university to reject the establishment of a course in Western civilisation after the Ramsay Centre for Western Civilisation offered to fund scholarships to it.

The Centre is chaired by former Prime Minister John Howard and was set up last year with a bequest from healthcare magnate Paul Ramsay to promote Western civilisation.

It called for interest from universities in a degree course in Western civilisation and started negotiations with the ANU last year.

The South Australian Senator has told Ben Fordham on Sky News the ANU is held captive to the academic’s union and the politically correct elite.
