ABC's TripleJ abandons Australia Day for Hottest 100

November 28, 2017

Senator Cory Bernardi says the Australian Government should reconsider Triple J's public funding, after they axed Australia Day as the day to run their popular 'Hottest 100' countdown next year.

Triple J will now run a 'Hottest Weekend' in the 4th weekend of January, to show solidarity with 'change the date' activists who want Australia Day moved to appease fringe Aboriginal emotional concerns.

Australian Conservatives have been critical of the management of the ABC and SBS, announcing a policy earlier this year to merge the two, scale back their funding by $1 billion (over half their combined budget) and restore their focus on their core charter business.
