Conservative Party South Australian senate candidate Rikki Lambert says the SA Royal Commission report on the Murray-Darling Basin Plan is only half the story, and says a federal royal commission is necessary.
"There's a stink to high heaven upstream of SA on how the Basin has been managed, the report shows the MDBA don't even know how much water is being diverted or stolen. What are the federal and state governments trying to hide?", Mr Lambert said.
Mr Lambert grew up in Berri in the Riverland and has been closely following river politics for 12 years in state and federal political roles.
He is seeking election to the Australian senate with Senator Cory Bernardi's Australian Conservatives at the next federal election.
This morning Rikki Spoke with Ian Jeffery on Riverland radio station 801-5RM to explain why a federal royal commission is so urgently needed.
